In the article are defined main parameters of tribological process within «shaft - hub» joint, based on which are implemented laboratory experiments on friction machine СМТ-1. For process identity in real joint and simulated joint will be enough temperature and pressure keeping in tribological contact. With known data – friction coefficient for boundary mode lubrication and friction surface temperature of mentioned joint, there were calculated: critical force, which is provide upper joint temperature limit; average sliding velocity piston’s shaft about upper crank head hub; are defined scope of pad to roll surface applied force, which is limited by friction machine capabilities and temperature modes identity; are calculated pad geometric parameters based on friction square.
