Traditional sources of energy are the main polluters and consumers of non-renewable natural resources. Alternative sources of energy can help solve the problem of sustainable human development through the use of renewable resources and reduce pollution of air, water and soil. For general environmental assessment must take into account the environmental impact of power plants on the RES (renewable energy sources) on the environment at all stages in the process of their production, use and disposal. In this paper, power plants using wind and solar energy, and small hydropower. The research results of the environmental assessment of emissions of harmful substances into the air from burning fuel for electricity production process power plants RES. It is established that during the production of renewable energy systems pollute the environment. The minimum level of contamination occurs for mini-hydro, and thus not environmentally friendly – solar power.
