The article discusses the features of the Model-Based Control System Design. Traditional design approaches have certain technical and organizational difficulties, which in many respects overcome by utilizing a model-based design approach. In this context, we prove the need for modernization of the existing theoretical oriented curriculum focused on traditional approaches, and the technique of using Model-Based Control System Design in engineering education. For visual perception of technological stages of creation and software implementation of a simulation model of a Control System for training purposes we developed a formalized description of the process of Model-Based Control System Design.
